About Tullamore D.E.W. Distillery
In 2010, the makers of famous scotch brands The Balvenie and Glenfiddich expanded their portfolio and dipped their toes in the Irish whiskey market by purchasing the Tullamore Dew brand. Originating in the nearby town of Tullamore in 1829, its most famous owner, Daniel Edward Williams, got his start with the company as a stable boy in the mid-1860s. His impact was so great that his initials became an acronym connected to the distillery brand. During the last decade, owners William Grant & Sons enhanced that history by using capitalization to emphasize his initials. The current distillery was built in 2014 to move production from Midleton Distillery to 100% in-house.
Before you start your tour, check out the brand’s fascinating history and enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee. There you will see how Irish Distillers Ltd. kept the brand alive during the major Irish whiskey downturn of the 20th century. You will also see a variety of historic bottles that include the long time slogan “Give every man his Dew.”
